Not commonly seen in the British Isles, they were introduced in the 1860’s from a Japanese herd.
Their preferred habitat is coniferous woodlands and heaths on acid soils. Therefore they are widespread and expanding in Scotland from west to east but with patchy areas in England. Enjoy experimenting with these sika deer recipes.
